Washington County

Washington County is located in the center of Vermont and is home to Montpelier, Vermont's capital city. The Central Vermont region's 23 towns vary dramatically in size and type and so do the schools they have created to serve their young people. Central Vermont's elementary schools are mostly small rural facilities serving a single town. Most high schools are larger and serve multi-town districts. Central Vermont is featured as a Historic Travel Itinerary at the national Register of Historical Places, the sixth area in the nation to be recognized in this way.
